Recognize Awesome
*Respect
*Responsibility
*Reputation
Respect: Students respect the learning process, their school, their teacher and their classmates.
Responsibility: Students are responsible for their school supplies and completion of classwork and homework.
Reputation: Students are accountable for their own behavior and actions.
The three R's: Respect, Responsibility and Reputation form the basis of our class rules. On the first day of school, I review our rules and students write what the three R's mean to them. Students sign a behavior and homework contract that is sent home to be reviewed, signed by the parents, and returned to me. It is important that fourth/fifth graders understand they are responsible for their personal behavior and their academics. Our class expectation is that homework and projects are turned in on time and that students are respectful of our learning environment. Students understand that a positive reputation is earned when they demonstrate respectful and expected behavior.
Through our Recognize Awesome program students can earn tickets and have their names drawn for prizes through the year. Tickets can be earned for homework completion, working efficiently, or just being a kind classmate. Students appreciate being recognized for doing the right thing and look forward to our Friday drawings!
If a student is not able to work within our classroom rules, parents will be contacted! If behavior persists, a discipline plan will be set in place. Administration will be involved if behavior continues. If students are physically disruptive to other students, they will be sent to the office.
